FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 1, 2026

HONOLULU — The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch (FSB) issued a red “closed” placard and immediately shut down Legend Seafood Restaurant. The establishment, located at 100 N. Beretania St., Ste. 108, was shut down due multiple critical food safety violations.

The food establishment, operated by Ming Dynasty Fish & Shrimp Co., Inc., received a red placard on Oct. 1 and must remain closed until DOH conducts a follow-up inspection and all critical violations are resolved.

During an inspection conducted on Oct. 1, 2026, a DOH inspector observed the following critical violations:

  • Moldy food product found in walk-in fridge
  • Food not separated and protected from contamination
  • Inadequate cold holding temperatures
  • Improper date marking and disposition
  • Roach infestation in the food establishment

DOH is requiring the food establishment to take the following corrective actions:

  • Food shall be in good condition and unadulterated
  • Food shall be separated and protected from contamination
  • Cold holding temperatures must be 41 F or below
  • Proper date marking and disposition on prepared food, marked with date by which to sell, consume, or discard
  • Premises must be free of roach presence

A follow-up inspection is scheduled for Oct. 2, 2026.

DOH FSB protects and promotes the health of Hawai‘i residents and visitors through education of food industry workers and regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.
